Take your low guess for the first year and you'd be more close to right. Then reduce them even more the second year. Nowhere near 30-40% of the Appy kids are going to drive 20+ miles and pay out of county tuition to go to Lee Co. There'll be very few of the imbeciles to do any of this.

Nope. Gas being $2.50 a gallon, few of them being able to drive, having to have mom or dad drive them 40+ (round trip) miles 5 days a week, come pick them up on a 40+ mile drive every evening. That's 80 (at the shortest) miles a day driving to and from school. Even if they're just driving them the 15-30 miles to the county line and picking them up every evening, it aint happening. With an enrollment of 218 (quickly Googled maybe not right but should be close), you're saying that almost 50 some kids are going to be able to talk their parents into that whole fiasco when they could instead ride the bus 5 miles for free to a high school down the road that they could attend free and that their parents are paying taxes to have in operation? If you'd said JIB, I wouldn't argue as much (even though it wont be that high), but they're not doing this whole Lee High thing. A handful of kids over 16 who could drive might try it, but it'd be very few.
id say most of them from keokee and exeter would do it/try it. it wont last, but people will try. Hell id just go to PV if it was me. about 40% of my good friends were from there anyway, i dont see what the big deal is.Quote:

And Lee does not charge a tuition fee for out of county students. However, they might just start doing that if this happens. Like I said, people in Appy are funny creatures sometimes.

Man, I really hate the fact that some people in Wise county are always thinking that there is a conspiracy going on with this consolidation thing. On another forum I post on sometimes, one poster is saying that the only reason St. Paul was left alone on this latest version of consolidation is because they(St. Paul) threatened to leave the county and take the power plant with them if their school was closed down. Do they not realize what would have to happen for this to take place? They also failed to mention that St. Paul will only be offering a "core" curriculum and no extras. If the students at St. Paul want more then they have to go to Coeburn, in which a bus is going to be provided. Don't they realize that this is going to eventually lead to consolidation at St. Paul, too? I mean, "****"!!
